Chapter One

Tessa Brooks thought moving into a new house would mean dealing with boxes, a tiny kitchen, and the usual headaches that come with starting over.

She didn't expect the locked attic door in her bathroom.

Her landlord insists the attic isn't part of the rental and claims a city ordinance requires it to stay locked. Tessa has no reason to question him until strange things begin happening inside her new home.

Then the noises start.

At first, they're easy enough to explain away. Old houses make sounds. Animals get into places they shouldn't. There's always a reasonable explanation.

Until there isn't.

What Tessa discovers inside her new home will force her to question everything she thought she knew about the world around her.

And whatever is waiting behind that locked door has already noticed her.

Some doors are locked for a reason.
