Chapter One

In this apocalyptic world supernatural creatures no longer hide in the shadows. What used to be the United States -now known as Elysium- was split up after the Great Awakening, twelve houses were formed of mortal and immortal societies that rule and govern their regions.

When all of the supernatural beings grew tired of living in secret, they attempted to make themselves known peacefully. When the humans refused to coexist, a war broke out ultimately destroying civilization and dividing everyone into their own parts of the old world.

The history all species learned from their young adolescent age, those facts are the only thing that remain true. Where the history books begin to differ is once you start digging a little deeper into each of the Houses own personal history of the species that were once hidden but now reign in the twelve territories of what used to be the United States. Elysium was rebuilt within their own house regions.

When the houses were formed, humans were sent to the House of Libra. Assigned territory aside, there are humans scattered around in villages throughout each House, House of Sagittarius is considered one of the safer territories for what humans are left in Elysium, and outcasts know they can flee to and live in peace there with security. The Great Awakening was the darkest time in the history of every creature’s existence.

Since the great war, each House strives to maintain peace, unwilling to repeat the horrors of that time.

The creation of the nephilim came from the angels, both light and dark, gaining their own free will from their realms and with that, their own special abilities. Along with their prospective angelic abilities, nephilims were also gifted with the abilities to use their own shadows. Their shadows can devour one’s soul if they so choose to use their power in that way.

But even nephilim have enemies of their own…
