How Lantern story worlds connect

From one story to a whole Universe.

A Galaxy gathers related Worlds, connecting stories that share a larger setting or creative thread. Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes are optional—writers can use only the levels their stories need.

Lantern hierarchy: a World contains one story’s people, places, lore, and art; a Galaxy brings related Worlds together; and a Universe brings related Galaxies together. Every level is optional.

In the mountains of West Virginia, extraction did more than remove coal. It cut into old systems, displaced hidden inhabitants, and left both land and people carrying damage that official maps refuse to record.

The Reclamation begins with Overburden, where competence becomes courtship, infrastructure becomes a language, and the thing repairing the mountain may understand reciprocity better than the companies that broke it.

Key threads: damaged mountains, mine history, reclamation, cryptid engineering, labor, grief, reciprocity, and the uneasy work of repairing a place without claiming to own it.

The mountains remember everything taken from them.

The Reclamation follows the people—and the ancient things—living among the scars left by generations of extraction. In forgotten hollows and abandoned workings, the land is shifting, old bargains are waking, and something beneath Appalachia has begun repairing what humanity broke.

Each story explores a different place touched by the Reclamation, where survival may depend on recognizing that the monsters were never the ones destroying the mountain.
