Authors keep copyright
Lantern does not take ownership of submitted stories, covers, art, maps, profiles, or World material. Authors grant only the limited permission described in the Alpha Terms. Publication elsewhere remains allowed during alpha.
No plagiarism or unauthorized material
Do not submit material copied, closely disguised, scraped, or falsely attributed from another creator. Do not upload unauthorized fan fiction, pirated books, unlicensed cover art, private manuscripts, celebrity likenesses used deceptively, or media you lack permission to display. AI assistance does not excuse infringement or fabricated authorship.
Report suspected infringement
During private alpha, send copyright and plagiarism reports to katesegerauthor@gmail.com with the subject “Lantern Copyright Report.” Include your name and contact information; identification of the original work; the exact Lantern URL or sufficient detail to locate the reported material; an explanation of the concern; and supporting links, files, registration information, or publication dates when available. Good-faith reader plagiarism reports may omit a formal signature, but rights-owner notices should include the statements below.
Rights-owner notice elements
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent.
- Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list when multiple works are involved.
- Identification and location of the Lantern material claimed to infringe.
- Contact information reasonably sufficient to reach the complaining party.
- A statement of good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, agent, or law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and the complaining party is authorized to act.
What Lantern does with a report
Lantern may temporarily hide material while investigating, ask either party for more information, compare publication evidence, preserve relevant records, reject a report that lacks enough information, remove or restore material, and restrict repeat or bad-faith violators. Lantern will act as promptly as the alpha team reasonably can, but does not adjudicate copyright ownership or guarantee a particular outcome.
Response and counter-notice
An affected author may respond with permission records, source files, publication history, fair-use context, or a written counter-notice. A formal counter-notice should identify the removed material and its prior location; state under penalty of perjury that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification; provide the author’s name, address, telephone number, consent to the appropriate federal court’s jurisdiction, and agreement to accept service from the complaining party; and include a physical or electronic signature.
DMCA status during alpha
Posting this reporting route is not a representation that Lantern has completed the U.S. Copyright Office’s designated-agent registration or qualifies for every safe-harbor protection. Formal DMCA-agent contact information will be added after registration. Until then, Fantasy Slayer Publishing LLC will still receive good-faith reports at the email above and may remove material under these policies.
Misrepresentation and repeat violations
Knowingly making material misrepresentations in a copyright notice or counter-notice can carry legal consequences. Lantern may reject abusive notices and suspend people who repeatedly submit infringing material, weaponize copyright claims, or impersonate rights owners.
