Cozy gothic fantasy with a wicked sense of humor, a dragon-sized imagination, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. 🐉✨

About the author

Fantasy reader. Fantasy writer. Professional collector of fictional people who have no business occupying this much space in my brain.

I’ve been disappearing into books for as long as I can remember. Fantasy has always been home—the magic, impossible worlds, strange creatures, dangerous adventures, complicated relationships, and characters who somehow become real enough to miss when the story ends.

Eventually, reading other people’s worlds wasn’t enough. I wanted to build my own.

I’m proudly a reader, dreamer, collector, fantasy lover, nerd, and geek. I’m also a neurodivergent single mom raising a teenager and sharing the chaos with two dogs and a cat.

All three—the teenager and both dogs—have names pulled from fantasy worlds. Through a completely unplanned twist, all three names also begin with P. I promise there was no elaborate naming scheme. It just... happened.

Then there’s our lone alphabetical rebel: Zoë Washburne, the cat, named for the Firefly character. Apparently, even naming members of my household eventually leads back to fictional worlds.

So yes, I’m perpetually surrounded by books, humans, animals, and something imaginary.

I write fantasy with magic, humor, romance, adventure, sharp edges, questionable decisions, complicated people, found family, and the occasional creature with entirely too many teeth. I love the enormous moments, but I’m equally obsessed with the tiny ones—the ridiculous conversations, private jokes, quiet acts of love, and relationships that make imaginary people feel real.

My natural habitat is somewhere between a candlelit gothic library and a moonlit fantasy kingdom, preferably with dragons overhead and something mildly concerning happening in the distance.

Welcome to my little corner of the chaos.

Mind the dragons. 🐉✨

When the Moon Held the Wolf by Aly Star

Fantasy

When the Moon Held the Wolf

Roja was born to be a Hunter.

At least, that was what everyone believed until her power never awakened.

While her younger brother inherited the strength, instincts, and future meant for their bloodline, Roja learned to wear red—the color marking those who cannot protect themselves. She still believes in her people, their duty, and the warning every Hunter child knows:

Never trust a wolf.

Then she runs straight into one.

Takowa should be everything Roja has been taught to fear. Instead, he catches her when she falls, lets her go when she retreats, and slowly becomes the one person who never asks her to be anything other than herself.

But Takowa carries a secret written into his very blood.

He is Kowa—the last of the Original wolves, descendants of an ancient bloodline Hunters have sworn never to forgive.

Roja has spent her life believing the story of the Hunter woman who trusted an Original and paid for it. Now she must decide whether centuries of warning matter more than the man standing before her.

Takowa knows the truth behind that old story.

He also knows some truths come with a price.

Their ancestors once proved that a Hunter’s heart and a wolf’s may meet.

Roja and Takowa are about to discover what happens when blood remembers what the heart would rather forget.

Blood betrayed them both.

Where Reason Ends by Aly Star

Dark Academia

Where Reason Ends

Professor Sabrina Marlowe knows exactly how magic works.

It manifests at thirty-two. It follows measurable patterns. It can be studied, tested, and—usually—kept from putting anyone on the ceiling.

Kyle Dawson is thirty.

His magic arrived two years early.

Worse, there's nothing wrong with it.

Assigned to study the tattooed former mechanic who shouldn't be magically possible, Sabrina expects an anomaly she can eventually explain. Instead, Kyle notices things about the Alsbeth Institute everyone else has learned to ignore. The walls move. The windows breathe. Gargoyles never stay where they were. Crows carry offerings to windows that open for no one else.

And something beneath the Institute seems to know Kyle is there.

As Sabrina digs into Alsbeth's history, academic records begin looking less like paperwork and more like evidence. Students who supposedly failed out have vanished. The deeper she searches, the harder it becomes to ignore an increasingly horrifying possibility:

Alsbeth isn't simply a school for people learning to survive becoming magical.

It's keeping something alive.

Or keeping something in.

And the institution Sabrina has devoted her career to may have been deciding who pays the price.

Magic comes at 32. Kyle Dawson is 30.

Niflheim Carnival by Aly Star

Horror romance

Niflheim Carnival

Every eight years, a carnival appears in the struggling town of Demon Den, promising monstrous thrills to anyone brave enough to remain after sundown.

For Alana, its return feels like an invitation from the happiest night of her childhood—the night her father brought her beneath its dazzling lights and a mysterious boy with brilliant hazel eyes promised to protect her. Now grown and eager to reclaim that memory, she enters the carnival with her best friend, V, expecting elaborate scares, reckless fun, and enough horror to make Halloween unforgettable.

But the blood is real. Terrified guests are dragged into the darkness, the crowds begin to disappear, and even the victims vanish from the memories of those who loved them.

Separated from V and hunted through the carnival grounds, Alana finds herself pursued by a masked stranger whose presence feels inexplicably familiar. Beneath his disguise waits the horned monster she never forgot—and he has spent years waiting for her return.

He would slaughter anyone who threatened her, defy his own kind to keep her safe, and burn the human world before allowing it to take her from him. But loving him means accepting the horrifying truth behind the carnival…and deciding how much of her humanity Alana is willing to sacrifice to remain in the arms of her monster.

Falling into Astra by Aly Star

Epic Fantasy

Falling into Astra

Astra has rules.

Sifira and Odran know them well. They know the monsters that stalk its wild places, the magic woven through its people, and the dangers waiting inside its dungeons. Alongside a mismatched group of companions, they’ve learned how to survive a world where adventure has teeth.

But the rules are changing.

Creatures are behaving in ways they shouldn’t. Dungeons are breaking patterns that have held for generations. Familiar dangers are becoming unpredictable, and encounters that should be routine are leaving behind questions no one knows how to answer.

For Sifira and Odran, facing the unknown together is nothing new. They’ve spent years fighting beside each other, sharing beds, trading insults, keeping secrets, and knowing one another well enough to recognize the things neither is willing to say aloud.

Now even that familiarity may not be enough.

As their party ventures deeper into a mystery that should be impossible, each discovery chips away at what they thought they understood about Astra—and suggests that whatever is happening is far bigger than a few unusual monsters.

Magic. Dungeons. Dangerous quests. Questionable decisions. Complicated relationships. Six people trying very hard not to die.

And a world that has suddenly stopped following its own rules.

The monsters were never supposed to change.
